Published: 2026-10-20 Views: 22
A “self-sponsored EP” is not a separate pass. It means incorporating your own Singapore company, which then acts as your employer and applies for an Employment Pass (EP) for you. Once approved, you can live in Singapore, run your business and apply for dependant passes for eligible family members.
Who is it for
- Business owners expanding into Singapore and Southeast Asia
- Investors with a genuine business plan to operate from Singapore
- People who wish to live in Singapore long-term and later consider permanent residence
Key requirements
- A genuine operating company with a business plan, office address and real activities.
- Salary: the EP holder’s salary must meet MOM’s qualifying salary, currently from S$5,600 per month for most sectors (higher for financial services) and rising with age. MOM has announced higher thresholds for new applications from January 2027.
- COMPASS: applications generally need at least 40 points, based on salary, qualifications, workforce diversity and local hiring.
- Relevant qualifications and work experience help.
Process
- Initial assessment of your profile and business plan
- Incorporate the company, appoint a local director and company secretary
- Open a corporate bank account, inject paid-up capital, arrange an office
- Prepare the business plan and supporting documents
- The company submits the EP application to MOM
- After approval, collect the pass and keep the company compliant
